The new reduction of errors in endoscopy protocols |
|
Protocol Editor allows endoscopy doctors to save results of endoscopy in the form of protocols, which contains diagnostic and treatment information about patients.
An important task of all endoscopic departments to generate reports can be done
by means of Protocol Editor. Because of the large number of patients in big medical organizations doctors may have minor errors in protocols. Usually such mistakes do not affect the treatment and diagnostic processes of the medical organization, but make a distortion in the statistics, in particular related to employment of doctors.
The traditional way to minimize errors in electronic medical documents is using
dictionaries.
But Protocol Editor authors went beyond the traditional way by creating a special protocol validation module.Until recently, version 1.0 of this module was used to deal with the specific errors in endoscopic protocols. The main function of this module is to monitor and correct order of the conclusions in protocols. This has reduced number of errors in protocols, which are based on these error type, but has not excluded the possibility of errors related to the unacceptable combination in various fields of protocols.
Extensive experience of
using Protocol Editor in health care organizations showed that the most critical bugs in this category are the wrong combinations of two such fields as «Source of funding» (NHS,
private medical insurance, etc.) and «Medical Organization» (clinic, hospital, etc.) that eventually affects all endoscopic service reports.
Currently it is released new version of protocol validation module (version 1.1) enables doctors to create special rules to detect improper combination of protocols in various fields using several «clicks»,
as well as detect false values of these fields.
